Trump Appears To Be Caught In Voter Fraud Scandal, Reportedly Tried To Register In Florida Using Out-Of-State Address

This would be funny if it wasn't so... Okay, this is hilarious.

After weeks of ranting and raving about the possibility of cheating the system when it comes to mail-in voting, it turns out Donald Trump has finally found a dastardly fraudster to make an example of for everyone to see: Himself.

According to reporting in today’s edition of the Washington Post, when the President moved his residence from New York to Florida late last year, he pulled a move that many thought was pretty hinky — he attempted to register to vote not as a New Yorker or as a Floridian, but as a resident of Washington, DC.

Now, he HAS a residence in DC, of course — I know, because I’m paying for it — but that’s not quite the problem with Trump’s voter registration. In the state of Florida, you’re actually required to be a resident of that state in order to vote there. It’s actually like that in most states without some special dispensation, but in Florida, the quest for voter ID laws has led the state legislature to pursue some pretty onerous crackdowns.

But even that isn’t actually the issue.

It turns out that his attempt to register to vote happened on the exact same day as his highly-publicized move from Trump Tower to Mar-a-Lago, a process that required an official change of address. But according to WaPo, he was claiming two addresses on two official forms on the exact same day:

Trump’s original voter-registration application, which was obtained by The Washington Post via a public records request, was filed during a time when the president was making a highly publicized move to change his permanent residence from his Manhattan penthouse to Mar-a-Lago, his private club in Palm Beach, Fla.

The voter application is dated Sept. 27, 2019 — the same day that Trump made the domicile change. On one of his forms that day he was telling Florida officials that his ‘legal residence’ was Washington, D.C., and on another he was saying he was a ‘bona fide resident’ of Palm Beach.”

Now, stay with me here, because even that wasn’t the problem:

Florida voter-registration applicants are warned on registration forms that they may be subject to fines and even prison time if they do not provide truthful information.”

Trump risked prison the day he “moved” to Florida by registering to vote and lying about his address on the form. Like, exactly the kind of voter fraud he’s been screaming about, only you know, REAL.

Nothing will likely come of this, but it is yet another example of the President screaming like his hair is on fire about something only he is guilty of.
