It’s impossible to miss the fact that this country is still absolutely reeling from the senseless and cruel murder of George Floyd in the streets of Minneapolis, at the hands of former police officer Derek Chauvin and a few of his fellow officers who stood idly by and allowed Chauvin to keep his knee on the back of Floyd’s neck for nearly 10 minutes until he took his last breath.

Protests and demonstrations are still absolutely raging from coast to coast in this country, even in the midst of a massive global pandemic, because while Chauvin and his comrades have been charged and are currently awaiting trial for Floyd’s murder, the injustices in this country overall have yet to be addressed.

As the country continues to protest against Chauvin’s hate crime and the thousands of others like his, the former police officer is now facing some additional charges of a different kind as he wastes his days away in a jail cell where he belongs.

According to a report from The Star Tribune, the Minneapolis police officer who murdered George Floyd, along with his wife Kellie Chauvin, has now been charged with felony tax crimes.

“Derek Chauvin and Kellie Chauvin, of Oakdale, were each charged by summons in Washington County District Court with nine counts of aiding and abetting taxes-false or fraudulent returns or failing to file returns,” the report from Star Tribune reads.

“There are six counts involving aiding and abetting allegations of false or fraudulent returns starting with the 2014 tax year. The other three allege not filing taxes for the years 2016, 2017 and 2018.”

The Chauvins are currently in the midst of divorce proceedings that are sealed, with Kellie citing “constant harassment from the public.”

I don’t know about you. But I’m personally not a bit mad at the idea of the piece of garbage spending a little longer in a prison cell.
