Meghan McCain claimed that her neighborhood has been left in shambles by protesters, only to be called out by her own neighbor for lying.
Donald Trump has been furiously attacking New York and demanding that Governor Andrew Cuomo call up the National Guard to put down protests that have resulted in some property damage.
Trump is acting like New York City is a war zone and like protesters are enemy combatants.
Sadly, McCain acted the same way when she insisted that the area she lives in has been “eviscerated” by protesters and attacked Cuomo and Mayor Bill DeBlasio by accusing them of letting the city “burn to the ground.”
My neighborhood in Manhattan is eviscerated and looks like a war zone. DeBlasio and Cuomo are an utter disgrace. This is not America. Our leaders have abandoned us and continue to let great American cities burn to the ground and be destroyed. I never could have fathomed this

New York City is not burning to the ground. And the destruction of her neighborhood has been greatly exaggerated. How do we know this? Because one of McCain’s neighbors walked outside.
Meghan, we live in the same building, and I just walked outside. It’s fine. https://t.co/ZvwNrjL6P7

Others shared similar reports.
lmao. my sister lives there too. “there’s nothing to loot by us”

like i just walked through the theater district and saw one semi broken atm, with vault intact

And more Twitter users piled on with mockery.
It takes a special kind of brainwashing to have the country fall to pieces in every area during Republican rule and somehow blame it on the democrats. Truly truly special.

Drama queen. Not helping.
— Jessie Bahrey (@JessieBahrey) June 2, 2020
You are such a shameless liar. If your dad wasn’t famous you’d be working in an office, lying about your co-workers to stir up drama. Sociopath.

Your president would rather kill everyone and let cities burn, rather than STOP KILLING BLACK PEOPLE

Meghan, are you a New Yorker, or are you here just visting? How we respond to restoring and caring for our neighborhoods during this period defines us. There is a cleanup in the Bronx tomorrow morning. I urge you to join me. Show us you’re part of the community 🇺🇸

How many war zones have you been in, Meghan?
— Katie MacBride (@msmacb) June 2, 2020
Indeed, unlike her late father, Meghan has never been in war zone. But the way she’s talking, it sure sounds like she trying to turn her neighborhood into one.
